Language Of the 21st century

As a girl of the 21st century who is totally into the use of technology in all forms is also the victim who is been using abbreviation of words or also called the technology or SMS language. The short forms used in this language have dourly led to the ruination of my English Language with spellings and formation of sentence and maybe the same with others too.
It all started with the use of text messaging. We try to type as less as we can, with replacement of words by a single letter or digit which have the same sound (for e.g. ‘C’ for see, ‘U’ for you, ‘4’ for four, ‘2’ for to etc.) At times we also replace the syllable within the word with a digit (for e.g. ‘l8er’ for later, 2mrw for tomorrow etc.) Texting has also led to the evolution of acronyms, where the letter of the words in phrases are used, such as ‘LOL’ for ‘laugh out loud’, ‘BTW’ for ‘by the way’, ‘IRL’ for ‘in real life’,’ JTLYK’ for’ just to let you know’, ‘BRB’ for ‘be right back’ and many many more. Also we use ‘emoticons’, that express mood and also the facial expression such as ‘:D’ for ‘laughter’, ‘J’ for a ‘smile’, ‘L’ for a ‘sad face’, ‘;(‘ for a ‘cry’, ‘:P’ for ‘sticking tongue out.
It more over increased with the constant use of E-mails, Online Chats and Blogging too. English continues to change with the influence of all kinds. The influence of technology is highly dynamic in nature and I along with many are experiencing it almost every day and mainly the reason for the forgotten English with spellings and formation of sentence.

HAPPY DIWALI!

I like the light that glows from the Diyas at night, where they light clay lamps filled with oil to signify the triumph of good over evil...I like looking at Rangoli as they are meant to be sacred welcoming areas for the Hindu deities.
This is festival of light that brings happiness in abundance and brightens your life along!

HAPPY DIWALI!

‘Hinglish’- Becomes the country’s most important language

http://www.onehourtranslation.com/translation/blog/hinglish

In our country India, language has changed, those two languages which have been widely spoken in India and that is Hindi and English. The molten mixture of these two languages forms what is well known as ‘Hinglish’.

English language is an essential skill for success where as Hindi is our national and also local language. But what amazes me is that how these two languages are spoken with its mixture.

This language on the whole is an unintentional code-switching effort, with speakers who freely tend to mix between English and Hindi with its word and sentences. Most of the speakers don’t realize that they use such mixture of language and when they switch between these two languages. They just tend to use the best words to express their thoughts with the language they know.

Happiness

"Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony."
-Mahatma Gandhi
Happiness is what we all seek for and long for. We all act greedy when it comes to happiness. It is everlasting pursuit of life, the unquenchable thirst and the voracious hunger of all human kind.
We are not born with a sunny temperament, like being happy for ever. But we all can learn how to bring positivity in us by generating meaning and satisfaction into our lives. Happiness has many meaning attached to it, it means different to different people.

“Happiness is not something readymade. It comes from your own actions.”
-Dalai Lama XIV

The Way You Appear - Results to Rejection?

Physical appearance plays an integral role when it comes to interpersonal attraction. We all try our best to look physically attractive as possible; it is not at all surprising that most of us do everything we can, to enhance it. It would be right for me to say; even people who are extremely attractive tend to worry about their appearance from time to time. After all, we all fear rejection, if the society don’t like the way we look. In other words, most people experience what is known as appearance-rejection sensitivity from time to time.

The Internet Revolution

The Internet Revolution

Internet has generated a great amount of impact on society. Internet was first originated during the time of Cold War era.  It happened because the US feared nuclear attack from Soviet Union. Hence the computer scientist planned, designed and implemented ARPANET, the forerunner of the internet. Each networked computer passes along a message to another in the direction of the messages destination which is recognized by its address, by using open satellite telephone line.
ARPANET is a form of computer network which was designed for defence purpose which later evolved into internet during the late 1980s, this evolution happened when the number of users in the US and then in the other countries also began to increase tremendously. In comparison to other means of communication, internet is quicker, cheaper and more reliable.  A very rapid rate of adoption of the internet, including the WWW (World Wide Web) came into existence during the time 1990.Internet has been considered as one of the great transformational technologies.

Your Life Your Way

Spice Up Your Life

Since time immemorial, human beings have always longed to have friendships and other close relationships because it fulfills one of the basic needs of humans. Scriptures, epics, myths, literary works, all speak volumes about friendship. We have the examples of David and Jonathan from the holy Bible, Gilgamesh and Enkidu from the myth of Gilgamesh, Antony and Cleopatra, Pyramus and Thisbe, Radha and Krishna, Shakuntala and Dushyant, Shah Jahan and Mumtaz, the list goes on. Friendship is something which adds spice to our life and it helps us to march ahead successfully in our life. As Anais Nin puts it, "Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born."

Researches reveal that one of the causes of modern day problems like broken relationships, health problems, depression and loneliness is lack of genuine friendship. Without friendship human life becomes mundane, cold, sterile and mechanical. Friendship adds zest to our lives, helping us to bask in the warmth of love and understanding. It enables us to surge ahead in life without being submerged in the complexities of life.

Friendship is the glue that keeps us and the universe around us together. It could be between people with no age bar. It could also be between blood relations as well. The great Greek philosopher Aristotle said, “In poverty and other misfortunes of life, true friends are a sure refuge. They keep the young out of mischief; they comfort and aid the old in their weakness, and they incite those in the prime of life to noble deeds.” Just as air is necessary for the humans to survive, so too is friendship in one’s life to thrive.

If humans have survived so long beating all odds and have moved ahead in life, it’s because of the relationship that has existed among them. It does not matter how rich or poor we are. The true measure of our life consists in how many good friends we have. It is a necessity in all walks of life.
Favorite Color

Most of us have favorite color, may be the same one since childhood. Some must have changed their choice of color or may be the same for their whole life time. Some might change their choice of color according to their need and come back to their favorite when their needs are met.

If you don’t think that you have a personality color  you might think wrong. We dress up, decorate our home or office and choose things according to the choice of color  Do you have any color that you tend to choose constantly? If so then, bingo, that’s your personality color  that the color that reflects your personality and your deepest reflection that of thoughts. The color you like or dislike speaks about your experience with life. It also shows your positive and negative association to the color according to your need.

A best way to keep yourself happy is to surround yourself with the color you love either by wearing them or by decorating your world with it. This will empower your positive emotions and reflect your true self to the world.

Color & its Mood

Color and its Mood

I always felt fascinated and admired the beauty of color. I looked at it differently and I tend to generate different meaning to it. I never thought I would ever put a post on color, but recently I read articles and research papers which happened to really enlighten and influence me with the knowledge on ‘color’. As I am into, once you step into the magical world of color I am sure this knowledge will excite you too and maybe you will never look at color the same way you did before.

What is color?

The scientific explanation to it defines, ‘The property possessed by an object of producing different sensations on the eye as a result of the way the object reflects or emits light’, in simple words the vibration of light energy.

Color Psychology an Introduction

But here I am going to explain in completely different context. I will be focusing on how color affects us and our mood. What color denotes and how it defines the human character.
Yes! I will be referring to color in a psychological manner. Color manages us to give the insight into a powerful tool that we can use in all aspect of our life that includes clothing to the things we decorate and design and to all those things that surround us.

Color Psychology basically tries to explain and define how color affect our emotions, our mood, they way we think, our health and well being, and also our spiritual awareness at conscious and subconscious level.

Color is a vibration of light energy, it affects us all whether we can see it or not and whether we can feel it or not. Visually impaired people understand this accurately and many can feel colors very accurately.

Of course we all see color differently and denote different meaning too each one of it in favor to our choice and affects us with different degrees of intensity, yet it still affects each and every one of us on a subconscious level and it enriches our emotions, our relationships and our lives.

Philosophers View On Art

Plato’s Theory of Mimesis with Aristotle contradicting Plato’s Theory

This post is in relation to my first post about ‘Art’. In there I mentioned about the theory of mimesis in relation to art which was introduced by a well known philosopher, Plato and its counterpart was done by Aristotle. So here is a new post that explains this theory of mimesis.

The Obama Connection

Obama In Mumbai
                                                                 An Experience To Remember

I was asked by our principal of St. Andrews College, Dr. Marie Fernandes, if I’d like to go for a talk by President Obama. I replied, “Yes, of course.”

Even though I am not a great follower of him, I knew I was about to meet the most powerful man in the world, and that was enough to keep me excited. I felt lucky when I learnt that I along with 9 other students from St. Andrews college were among the fortunate 300 students from six colleges across the city who were about to attend the Town Hall meeting with Mr. Barack Obama. Calls from officials at mid night for verification, trips to police station, submission of various identity proofs and all the gruelling security procedures we went through almost a week before the Town Hall event.

'Art'

Let Art be a mean to explore your creativity
indulge in yourself
and experience the Beauty!

I know ‘Art’ cannot be portrayed in just few words. But the beauty of art with its imagination and creative skills has really caught my interest and made me research on its basic history. Art is just not dimensioned towards paintings, but it is a diversified term. Visual arts more or less refers to creation of one’s imagination into images or objects which would nearly include  paintings, sculpture,  photography and other such visual source of arts. Apart from visual term towards arts we also have music, theatre, film and literature that fall under the diversified stream of arts.
